Ara Alekyan unveiled these machine animals assembled from scrap iron at the Golden Apricot Film Festival in Yerevan this year. Before the crowds arrived, he stuffed and covered the sculptures with newspaper, so those gathered had no idea what lay beneath. Then he lit the paper and the machines emerged from flames.
